After 5 years of waiting, the new version 1.2.7 of ChordPro Buddy has finally been released in the App Store today.

the program now runs under macOS Big Sur and is optimized for Apple and Intel CPUs.

the interface of the program has been overhauled a bit. New icons have been created.

the behavior and the interface have been adapted to Big Sur.

ChordPro Buddy now supports the dark mode, as well as the full screen mode of macOS.

the interface is now available in French or Spanish in addition to the existing languages.

Of course, I tried to eliminate many bugs, but I'm sure there are a few new ones as well. If you find one, please write me! ;-)

There is good news: after a long period of not being able to develop the application any further, I finally have a new beta version ready, which you can test soon.

The new version runs on macOS 10.13 High Sierra to macOS 11 Big Sur and runs on Intel and Apple Silicon CPU. I added the French and Spanish localisation which certainly needs improvement. Later this year I'll try to add some important enhancements like support for multiple instruments and also tunings.

After a gap of about 4 years today finally the new version 1.2.4 of ChordPro Buddy reached the App Store.

The main innovation besides the compatibility with the current macOS versions is the introduction of syntax highlighting in the editor. In addition, many errors and imperfections of the old version have been corrected.

Version 1.2.4 still has a few known issues and unfortunately also two crashes. An update has already been submitted and should be online shortly.

Why has it taken so long? - There were several reasons: both personal, as well as Apple's update policy.
As you know, Apple has released almost annually updates of its operating system lately. Unfortunately, there were always big changes in important APIs (application programming interfaces), which I use in my programs. I was incorporating Apple's changes in my existing programs and as soon as I had finished, there was a new one. Long story short, I was just not able to follow the situation. This is a free time project for me, money you cannot earn on the App Store anyway.
Recently my personal situation has changed for the better for me. So I have decided to continue development of ChordPro Buddy now.

I'll send in the next few days an invitation for a beta test to all my known users. Who doesn't receive an email and want to participate: just send an email to me.

The next version has the existing functionality with small improvements and will be compatible with the recent modern macOS versions. So I did today and the new version 1.2.1 with enabled security entitlements and sandboxing is already uploaded to the Apple review team.

- now, if chords are overlapping, CPB inserts fill chars into the lyrics, until chords are visible (see bugfixes)
- the kind of fill char can be selected in the Viewer preferences
- the fill chars are surrounded by whitespaces, so that the lyrics are looking pretty and clear

Bugfixes:
- sometimes, when you scrolled down in Layoutview and switch back to editor only the editor view is blank until you scroll
- fixed bug with irregular replacing of bb in lyrics to bflat symbol
- fixed with overwriting the layout of a file with default settings, after the loading of the file
